It’s a Wonder-of-the-World name. That also means buses, heat, and upsells. A good Chichén day is logistics and pacing. A bad one is a grey-out in the parking lot at 1 p.m. with a souvenir gauntlet and a ruined next day.

Cómo hacer un día sensato

1. Leave brutal-early from Cancún or Playa. Late starts punish you at the pyramid plaza.
2. Choose private/small group if budget allows — more control over pace and lunch.
3. At the site: main pyramid views, a few key structures, shade breaks. You will not “see everything.”
4. Ik Kil / cenote add-ons: only if energy remains; many guests should pick pyramid or long cenote circus, not both hero moments.
5. Long ride home — headphones, water, no tequila “celebration” that destroys tomorrow’s Isla day.

Expectativas honestas

• Climbing the main pyramid is generally not allowed; photos are the product.
• Midday heat is the boss fight.
• Guides vary from excellent to script robots — read recent reviews on your operator.

• Hat, electrolytes, light clothes, cash for small fees/tips.
• Bathroom stops before the site; lines are part of the culture.
• Skip the first three souvenir rows; if you buy, buy on the way out with a budget cap.
• Kids: this is a long day — tablets for the bus, snacks, nap plan.
